A nice excuse to kill it on the front and try to make an early break. A strong regional field wouldn't allow it, but my legs felt good. Even having tried lap after lap with James Fox of organising club CC Luton, the elastic was strong and nothing would come of our efforts. Before long, we were back on the final sweep up the finishing drag. I was somewhat boxed in during the final 500m and found myself sprinting for 11th, and within sight of the win.
Well done to the winner Tim Allen who came over the line with a convincing sprint.
I also have to commend CC Luton on a successful and smoothly run race which did Neil Gardner proud. I have no link with CC Luton -despite this, the homage that this event pays to club founder Neil Gardner was proud one.
