A windy undulating course with no substantial early action. I was determined that a break would stick on this course. I made my plans to break away clear to the boys from ELV, so that when it did go, either they'd hold things back, or would work for me in the break.
I attacked on the fastest part of the course from the middle of the bunch. James Fox (CC Luton), Michael Cowland (St Ives) and Scott Cousins (Maldon) marked the move and pretty soon we had a minute on the bunch and were working well as a break of 4 with a lap and a half to go.
We were chased down to within 30 seconds, and with 5 km to go, James Fox attacked on the final rise of the circuit, finally breaking the legs of the remaining 3 in the break. We let him go and then it was a 3 man sprint for the line.
